Mulugu (Telangana): Three Maoists, including one woman were killed in an exchange of fire between the Maoist formations and police parties in Karriguttalu forest area in the district of Telangana bordering Chhattisgarh on early Tuesday.
In this exchange of fire, one person from the policy party also received bullet injuries, Mulugu Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangram Singh Ganpat Rao Patil said in a release here.
Based on reliable information that large gathering of CPI Maoist group (Telangana State Committee) was planning to abduct and kill prominent people (Politicians, Sarpanch and Contractors) by abducting them in Telangana, Chattisgarh border areas, a joint operation by Chhattisgarh State Police, C.R.P.F and Telangana State Police was launched three-days back in the bordering areas of Mulugu – Bijapur Districts of Telangana and Chattisgarh respectively, he said.
Today, early morning while parties were in Karriguttalu Forest area, there was an Exchange of Fire between the Maoist formations and Police parties.
After the firing, thorough Combing and Search Operation was conducted by the Police parties taking all due precautions and during the search, three dead bodies including one woman’s body belonging to Maoist formations were recovered from the site of the encounter.
One-SLR, One-INSAS Rifle, one -Single Bore Weapon, Ten -Rocket Launchers and other Kit articles were also recovered at the site, the SP added.
In December, 2021, six Maoists, including four women, were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Pesalapadu forest area bordering Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
