Thadou Students’ body condemns life attempt on ADC member Chandel

Imphal: The Thadou Students’ Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) strongly condemned the alleged premeditated attempt to murder M. Khupkholen Haokip, Member of District Council (MDC), Autonomous District Council (ADC), Chandel in the evening of 1st March 2021 at his official residential house at Zone – III, National Games Village, by unidentified armed assailants.
The assailants numbering about two or more used weapons, including automatic rifles and fired at the backyard of the house wherein Haokip escaped unhurt, said the student body in a statement.
Mention may be made that such life attempts against Haokip are much frequent in the passing years.
As regards message forwarded in various social media, citing the incident to be a game played by Haokip self, TSA would like to clarify that a spot verification was conducted on the very same night and found the incident to be genuine and true. Thus, such a malicious attempt towards Haokip is strongly disapproved and condemned by the TSA. It is also evident that the perpetrators had tried to portray the incident as an isolated one.
The student body also urged concerned authorities especially the Manipur Police Department to immediately arrest the culprit/s involved in the incident.
