Imphal: Suvidha Permission App, a significant app of the electoral system, provides a single-window system for giving election-related permissions within 24 hours of receipt of the application, Assistant to Nodal Officer (IT) Amitkanta Okram adding that the Suvidha App is one of the 20 apps developed by the Election Commission of India for simplification of the election process.
Amitkanta said Suvidha Permission App cell of Imphal West District has received 218 applications altogether till date out of which 169 have been accepted, 39 have been rejected, three have been cancelled.
He said the cell has received 133 applications for permission from candidates and political parties to hold meetings and use loudspeakers in connection with the ensuing election in the district, said Asst. to Nodal officer (IT) Amitkanta Okram adding that 113 out of the total have been accepted, 14 were rejected, five are in progress and one has been cancelled till February 23. He said the cell has also received 62 applications for vehicle permits of which 40 were accepted, 19 were rejected, one is in progress and two have been cancelled.
Further, according to Amit, the cell has received 11 applications for permit to take out procession and loud speaker, out of which 7 has been accepted, three rejected and one is in progress. The cell has also received five applications for permit for street corner meetings and loudspeaker and four have been accepted and one has been rejected.
The only application for the opening of temporary party office received so far has been rejected, while the only application for door to door canvassing has been accepted, he said adding that two applications for permission to hold meetings without loudspeakers have been received and both have been accepted so far, three Permits for the construction of Rostrum/Barricade have been received out of which two have been accepted and one rejected.
Amitkanta Okram explained that candidates and political parties can apply for permissions online as well as offline for meetings, rallies, use of vehicles, temporary election office, loudspeaker, door-to-door canvassing, etc. during election directly on https://suvidha.eci.gov.in and thereafter, receive the permission approval status and order copy on the Suvidha portal as well as Candidate App. It obviates manual intervention in granting permissions as the applications will be processed on a first come first serve meeting, he said.
According to the ECI website, the elections have 4 technological phases where the ecosystems of these applications are used. These four phases are non-Election, Pre-election, In-elections and Post-elections. The apps work in tandem during non-election, pre-election, in-election and post-election phases to create a perfect ecosystem providing seamless interfaces for all stakeholders. The applications have been so designed carefully, that they cover all the phases effectively and the Suvidha Permission app is an app used during the In-Election phase.
