Bengaluru: Tokyo Paralympics champion Javelin thrower Sumit Antil and silver medallist discus thrower Yogesh Kathuniya has scripted new world records at the ongoing fourth Indian Open National Para Athletics Championships here at Sri Kanteerava stadium.
Sumit, who broke the world record thrice during the Paralympics final last year, created a new world record after sending the spear to a distance of 68.62m on Friday.
The 24-year-old para athlete’s previous world record throw of 68.55m in the F64 category came at the Tokyo Paralympics Games last year.
Yogesh created a new world record in the F-56 Discus Throw event with a record throw of 48.34m.
Yogesh, 24, won the silver at the Paralympics in Tokyo last year with the best effort of 44.38m in his sixth and last attempt in the final.
