Six IEDs recovered in Manipur border

Assam Rifles official said in the run up to the Assembly Elections in Manipur and possible attacks from groups based in Myanmar, Assam Rifles has been proactively dominating the Indo Myanmar Border.

Imphal: Moreh Battalion seized six Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs) and explosive material in the border town of Moreh on Wednesday, police on Thursday said.

Assam Rifles official said in the run up to the Assembly Elections in Manipur and possible attacks from groups based in Myanmar, Assam Rifles has been proactively dominating the Indo Myanmar Border.

Troops had been maintaining vigil and observed an individual moving on a foreign origin motorcycle entering India from Myanmar carrying a suspicious wooden box.

On being challenged by the troops, the suspect dropped the wooden box and fled back to Myanmar.

On examining the wooden box, six IEDs with cortex and electric wire were recovered. The seized items were handed over to Moreh Police for further investigation.
