Darjeeling: A section of National Highway 55 was washed away in a major landslide in this district of West Bengal on Friday, disrupting traffic movement
A 40 metres stretch of the road at the Gairigaon area near Tindharia was completely damaged by the landslide this morning, however, no casualties have been reported so far, an official said.

NH-55 connects the hills of Darjeeling and Kurseong with the plains of Siliguri.
The vehicles on the highway were diverted through alternative longer route Rohini and Pan-khabari routes.
