Sikkim CM greets people on birth anniversary of Poet Bhanu Bhakta

'Extend my warm greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of 208th Bhanu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya', said Chief Minister Tamang.

Gangtok: The birth anniversary of Classical poet Acharya Bhanubhakta is being celebrated across Sikkim on Wednesday.

The State level grand program with good participation of intellectuals was hosted by Nepali Sahitya Parishad here. The Chief Minister has conveyed a message on the occasion.

‘Extend my warm greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of 208th Bhanu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya’, said Chief Minister Tamang.

‘The work of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya has inspired people, cutting across language and community barriers for the common good of society. He is also renowned for his work of translating the great epic ‘Ramayana’ from Sanskrit to Nepali,’ Tamang added.

Urging the people to preserve the traditions, culture, and heritage, he said, ‘ Through his work, the Nepali-speaking people learned to read and write in the language resulting in literacy among the Nepali population. His contribution to Nepali literature is a testimonial of his love for the language.

On this occasion, I appeal to the Sikkimese people to collectively work towards preserving and promoting our cultural and traditional heritage and encourage our youths to be an integral part of this initiative.’
