Sikkim celebrates Bumchu festival

Chief Minister PS Tamang, wishing the public on Bumchu, said, ''The festival is celebrated annually at Tashiding Monastery, West Sikkim on the 15th day of the first month of the Lunar calendar corresponding to the month of February/March.

Chief Minister PS Tamang, wishing the public on Bumchu, said, ”The festival is celebrated annually at Tashiding Monastery, West Sikkim on the 15th day of the first month of the Lunar calendar corresponding to the month of February/March.
”The opening of the vessel containing the holy water is the major highlight of the festival. Each year, the vessel is opened to check the level of water which is believed to be a sign of the fortunes for the coming year Chief Minister prays for good fortune, peace, prosperity and best of health for Sikkim,” he added.
Former Chief Minister PK Chamling also greeted the public on Bumchu. ”May Sikkim’s fate be preserved and may we have a secure and prosperous future,” said the MLA.
However, the Monks and devotees gathered at the Monastery, looking forward to the predictions on Sunday morning, on the basis of level of water in the container.
