Imphal: Manipur’s leading private hospital Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI) was awarded the National Health Award by Double Helical for rendering extraordinary services during the  COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Vijay Agarwal, President CAHO (Consortium of Accredited Hospitals Organization) and Dr. Shiv Kumar Sarin of ILBS (Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences), Delhi  gave away the award to Dr. Palin Khundongbam (CMD, SHRI) during the Double Helical Health  Conclave on Monday at India Habitat Center, New Delhi.

The Magazine organized the  conclave in collaboration with the Association of Healthcare Providers (India) and the Consortium of Accredited Hospitals Organization.

Double Helical is a leading national health magazine brought out from New Delhi by a team  of experienced journalists. The publication is committed to imparting awareness about health  issues among the masses and advocating for the availability of affordable world-class health  services to all strata of society. To achieve this end, the organization gives away national and  regional health awards to deserving doctors, institutions, and healthcare professionals every  year to encourage them to do quality work and strive for realizing the goal of health for all.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, SHRI has been working     relentlessly to  reduce COVID-19 and preserve lives. The hospital has 144 beds (including 60 ICU beds) earmarked for COVID patients and over 71 thousand COVID tests have been conducted, with  2835 patients treated thus far,  a statement said.

While the threat of catching the disease and infecting their  loved ones looms large over many and pushes them to refrain from taking on the  responsibilities, the entire team of Shija put up a valiant fight round the clock to turn the tide. The management of SHRI applauds each member of the team for their effort and devotion.

It may be noted that  the Association of Healthcare Providers (AHPI) in India recently named SHRI as the ‘Best Hospital  to Work for’.
