Pune:  Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut, among the most vociferous backers of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray amid a revolt in the party, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mumbai for questioning tomorrow in a case of alleged money laundering.

Raut told the media that he was yet to get a notice from the ED and once he gets it, “we will ask for more time to attend the inquiry”.

Earlier, the ED had seized Sanjay Raut’s assets in Mumbai and Alibag in the same case in April. This included Sanjay Raut’s residence in Mumbai.

It is alleged that a scam of Rs 1,034 crore was committed in the Patrachal land case in Goregaon. It was also alleged that Raut had bought a plot of land in Alibag. The cost of these plots is said to be around Rs 60 lakh. It is also alleged that the land was bought cheap by threatening the locals.

The ED had also arrested Praveen Raut, a close friend of Sanjay Raut, in the Patrachal land scam case.

Meanwhile, the battle for a claim to the “real” Shiv Sena is now being fought in court as well. The Shinde camp has moved the Supreme Court against the Shiv Sena’s move to disqualify him and 15 other rebel MLAs. In the petition, Shinde has claimed that the ruling alliance in Maharashtra has lost majority as 38 of 55 Shiv Sena legislators have “withdrawn support”.
