Imphal: Upset by the recent violent incident in Jiribam district, where numerous houses were burned down by suspected Kuki militants, the women of Khwairamband Market on Thursday demanded the immediate removal of Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh and Director General of Police Rajiv Singh.

They argued that these non-local leaders are disconnected from the current realities of Manipur. “Transfer them within a week, or face our agitation,” they warned.

The women stated that if the government doesn’t act, they should be given weapons and authority, promising to resolve the situation in 10 days. “Our children are out there, doing the job of state forces without pay, while facing investigation and arrests by agencies like the NIA,” they added.

They also criticized Kuki MLAs, calling for their disqualification due to alleged inaction. “Other MLAs sit comfortably in their quarters, speaking without action,” they asserted. The women urged MLAs and ministers to visit Jiribam alongside the Joint Coordinating Committee to assess the situation firsthand and devise necessary measures.

Criticizing the role of the Assam Rifles, one Ima emphasized, “The silence of MPs and the Prime Minister is deafening, despite the year-long turmoil. If they don’t act, they should step down.”
