Russian bombardments in Luhansk killed 12: Ukraine

The bombardments took place in the city of Severodonetsk and also caused damages to many homes, according to Hayday.

Kyiv: Twelve people were killed in Russian bombardments in the Luhansk region of Ukraine, claimed Ukraine’s Head of the military administration in the region Serhii Hayday.

CNN quoted Ukrainian military officials saying that 12 people were killed in the eastern Luhansk region while 60 properties were destroyed by Russian bombardments on Thursday, 

The bombardments took place in the city of Severodonetsk and also caused damages to many homes, according to Hayday.

Hayday said, “The assault on Severodonetsk was unsuccessful. The Russians suffered personnel losses and retreated.”

Oleksandr Striuk, head of the Severodonetsk city military administration said there are up to 15,000 civilians still in the city, living in bomb shelters and basements.

“The city has been without electricity, internet and communication for almost a week now,” he said. “About 70 per cent of the city’s housing stock was destroyed” he added.
