Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday warned that Moscow will strike new targets if the West gave advanced rocket systems to Ukraine.
During an interview with the state-owned Russia-1 television channel, Putin said, “We will draw appropriate conclusions from this and use our weapons, which we have enough of, to strike those objects that we have not yet struck”.
Ukraine said that the new rocket systems from its Western allies are essential to fight the Russian advances in the eastern part of the country.
Last week, US officials had said President Joe Biden administration was preparing to send advanced medium-range Multiple Launch Rocket Systems to Ukraine, which would fulfill a top request from Ukrainian officials, The Washington Post reported.
CNN reported that supplying American MLRS to Ukraine essentially does not change anything, since Kyiv had similar weapons before, including similar range missiles, so they are simply making up for their losses, Putin said, according to TASS.
On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden said that the US is providing Ukraine “more advanced rocket systems and munitions” as its war with Russia grinds on.
