RK Imo, Yamthong Haokip join BJP

Imphal: MLA Sagolband AC, RK Imo and MLA Saikul AC Yamthong Haokip both of whom won in the election to the 11th Manipur State Assembly election on Congress ticket joined the BJP Monday in New Delhi.

National President BJP, JP Nadda in the presence of senior party leaders union minister Sarbanand Sonowal,  Sambit Patra amongst others felicitated RK Imo and Yamthang Haopki on their joining the party.

Talking to the media at the reception ceremony, RK Imo Singh stated that he joined the BJP as he truly believes the work done by prime minister Modi in the last few years, has brought large scale peace and development across the country. He particularly singled out revocation of Article 370 and enforcing Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.

RK Imo also thanked home minister Amit Shah and BJP National President, JP Nadda for having faith in him and the work done in Manipur. He further stated that the law and order situation in Manipur has improved significantly in the last 5 years, bandhs, blockades become a rarity and the gap between the hills and the valley has been bridged to an extent.

Stating that various policies of the state government like CMHT, Health for All, Go to Village, Go to Hills, are being widely accepted and acclaimed by the people across the country, RK Imo said that he joined the BJP to ensure there is peace, stability and development in Manipur under the leadership of N Biren Singh.

Earlier, Sambit Patra introduced RK Imo Singh and Yamthong Haokip to the party fraternity and the press. He stated that RK Imo Singh is a two-term MLA who won from the INC in 2017. He is the son of late RK Jaichandra Singh, Manipur’s first Union Minister and former chief minister Manipur. RK Imo Singh was a member of the AICC Drafting Committee for the Plenary Session 2018 under Dr Manmohan Singh, he was also the AICC observer For the Tripura Assembly Election 2018. RK Imo, incidentally, also happens to be the president of Manipur Cricket Association.
