Brussels: The European Union has imposed additional sanctions on Russia, including on President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, over its military operation in Ukraine, the document said.

The sanctions envisage the assets freeze of the relevant persons.

The list of the persons under sanctions also includes Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, deputy chair of the Russian Security Council and former President Dmitry Medvedev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the special presidential representative for environment and transport Sergey Ivanov and other senior officials.

The EU also targeted with sanctions Alfa-Bank, Otkritie Bank, Promsvyazbank, the leading Russian defense enterprises, including the Kalashnikov concern and Almaz-Antey, the Russian Defense Ministry, the Foreign Intelligence Service and many other entities.
