Punjab police withdraw security provided to 122 ex ministers & legislators

The orders said police personnel deployed on specific orders of courts would not be withdrawn.

Chandigarh: Punjab police have withdrawn the security provided to 122 former ministers and MLAs.

An order in this regard has been issued by the Additional Director General of Police (Security) on Friday.

Prominent leaders whose security has been withdrawn included former ministers Manpreet Singh Badal, Raj Kumar Verka, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Brahm Mohindra, Sangat Singh Gilzian, Randeep Singh Nabha, Razia Sultana, Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Rana Gurjeet, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Aruna Chaudhary, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, former Assembly Speaker Rana KP Singh and former Deputy Speaker Ajaib Singh Bhatti.

Similarly, security provided to Dr Navjot Kaur, wife of PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu, former minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, son-in-law of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Lok Insaaf Party leader Simarjit Singh Bains has also been withdrawn.

The orders said police personnel deployed on specific orders of courts would not be withdrawn. The withdrawn police personnel would report to their parent units, it added.
