Imphal: Health & Family Welfare and IPR Minister, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh has said that the potential of the state nurses are well recognized by foreign countries. There have been requests to the state government for sending Manipuri nurses for employment and service to their countries.
Speaking as chief guest at the International Nurses Week Celebration, 2022 held at the Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Minister Ranjan said that recognizing the talents and sincere service of the state nurses, Asian countries particularly Japan has requested the send state nurses be sent to their country.
The government has also intimated the matter to the concerned authority. The government has also planned to impart the Japanese language to our nurses for better communication, Minister added.Â
Congratulating the services of our nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic, Health Minister maintained that without the sacrifice of the nursing communities it would not have been possible to control the pandemic of COVID. He said Nursing Week has been being celebrated to commemorate and honor the service rendered by Florence Nightingale for humanity.
Stressing the need strengthen health care at the primary level, he said it does not mean that secondary and tertiary level can be ignored. Strengthening the primary level will definitely help to boost other levels of the health care system. Appropriate policies to achieve the best health care service in the State will be chalked out in consultation with the state Chief Minister, he added.
Minister Ranjan also informed that in order to curb the expenditure on treatment, one needs to have health awareness. Preventive measures may be acknowledged. Periodical tests and regular health check-ups are necessary for keeping better health.
Speaking at the occasion Director, Heath Services Manipur, Dr. K. Rajo informed that the process for setting up a separate directorate for Nursing is under process. Service tenure for awardee nurses is extended. New nursing colleges have also been opened up in order to meet the requirement of nurses in the state, he added.
A floral tribute to Florence Nightingale was also held as a part of the celebration. Prizes were also distributed to those meritorious nursing students by the Chief Guest.
President, TNAI Manipur State Branch, N. Tangbi Devi, Director, RIMS, Prof. A Santa Singh, Director, State Health Society, Manipur, Dr. Somorjit Ningombam shared the dais as president and Guests of honor respectively.
The celebration was jointly organized by the Trained Nurses Association of India & Student Nurses Association of India, Manipur Branch.
