Pope Francis considered my invitation to visit India as greatest gift: PM

The Prime Minister was in Goa to attend celebrations organised to mark its liberation day.

Panaji: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the Pontiff of Catholic Church Pope Francis considered his invitation to visit India as the greatest gift.

”Some time ago I went to Italy and Vatican City. There I also had the opportunity to meet Pope Francis. His attitude towards India was overwhelming. I also invited him to come to India. I definitely want to tell you what he said after my invitation- Pope Francis said: “This is the greatest gift you have given me.” This is his affection for the diversity of India, our radiant democracy,” the Prime Minister said, addressing a public meeting organised to celebrate Goa Liberation Day at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium here.
