New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday paid tributes to freedom fighter Shyamji Krishna Varma on the occasion of his 164th birth anniversary.
In a series of tweets, the PM said, “Tributes to Shyamji Krishna Varma on his Jayanti.”
“I consider myself blessed to have got the opportunity to bring the ashes of Shyamji Krishna Varma back from Switzerland in 2003 and receive his reinstatement certificate during my UK visit in 2015,” Modi said, adding it is important that young India knows more about his courage and greatness.
On the occasion, the VP also took to Twitter and paid homage to the freedom fighter.
“My tributes to the great nationalist Shyamji Krishna Varma on his Jayanti today. Displaying fierce patriotism, he turned India House into a focal point of revolutionary Indian nationalism in London. His thoughts and life continue to inspire us,” Naidu wrote.
