New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged the nation to overcome vaccine hesitancy, appealing to the countrymen to not fall prey to rumours about the COVID vaccination.

Addressing the 78th edition of his monthly radio broadcast – ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi said, ‘We must ensure that people, especially those living in remotest parts of the country, to overcome COVID vaccine hesitancy.’

He urged all citizens to not fall prey to rumours about the COVID vaccination but take the jab as soon as possible.

‘Today, more than 31 crore vaccine doses have been administered. Even I have got both the doses,’ Modi said.

‘I have taken both doses. My Mother is almost hundred years old, she has taken both vaccines too. Please do not believe any negative rumours relating to vaccines,’ he said.

Those who are spreading rumours on vaccines, let them be, Modi said.

‘We all will do our work and ensure people around us get vaccinated,’ the Prime Minister said.

‘The threat of COVID-19 remains and we have to focus on vaccination as well as follow COVID-19 protocols,’ Modi said.

‘I urge you all- trust science. Trust our scientists. So many people have taken the vaccine. Let us never believe in negative things relating to the vaccine,’ the Prime Minister said.

‘Today, we are giving ‘Made In India’ vaccine shots free of cost to lakhs of people in a day. This is the strength of New India,’ Modi said.

‘Just a few days ago, we accomplished an unprecedented feat, on June 21st, the next phase of vaccination campaign commenced and that very day, the country registered a record of administering vaccines to over 86 lakh people, free of cost, that too on a single day,’ the Prime Minister said.
