Lima: Peru international midfielder Cristian Benavente is set to join Alianza Lima for the 2022 Peruvian top-flight season.
The 27-year-old agreed to personal terms and was expected to arrive in Lima on Friday night ahead of a medical, according to widespread local media reports. An attacking midfielder who can also play on either wing, Benavente has five months remaining on his contract with Egyptian side Pyramids.
He has been capped 18 times for Peru’s senior national team in a career that has also included spells with Real Madrid B, MK Dons and Nantes. Alianza Lima opened their Peruvian Primera Division campaign with a home match against Atletico Grau on Friday.
