Panel discussion on NEP 2020 held; CM Biren tells officials to interact with public regularly

Imphal: Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that officials of government departments should interact with public regularly, hear their grievances, so as to make the public feel that Government is for them. Through this act of the concerned authorities, public will feel a sense of belongingness, he added.

The Chief Minister stated this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of a “One Day Panel Discussion on National Education Policy, 2020” held at City Convention Centre, Imphal Thursday, organized by the Department of Education, Government of Manipur.

N Biren Singh further stated that education is the backbone of a society and no progress and development is possible without education. He added that the New Education Policy (NEP) aims to incorporate the teaching of vocational skills within the school curriculum to augment innovation, adaptability, and productivity which would help in solving the problem of unemployment to a larger extent.

Appreciating the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that NEP had been revised taking in view the importance of quality education in making the country a global power. He added that the NEP, 2020 is an India centric education policy. He urged all the teachers to render their services wholeheartedly.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh stated that human resource is the most important resource of a country and it is through proper education that youths can be shaped to develop better human resources. He also added that education provides the ability for rational thinking which is necessary for solving any issues

Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh, while delivering his presidential address, said that National Education Policy 2020 had been introduced under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a better country with qualified youths. He also added that the policy will be fully implemented within 2035. Stating that teaching profession had a very big role in shaping a society, he appealed to all the teachers to take their responsibility with commitment.

The Panel Discussion will have two technical sessions consisting of School Education and Higher Education.

Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board L Rameshwor, MLA Paonam Brojen, Commissioner (Higher & Technical Education) M Harekrishna, Commissioner (Education-S) T Ranjit, officials of Education Department and representatives of students unions attended the function among others.
