One person killed in firing by militants in Assam

“One person got killed… and nobody is injured. He was a former militant, ” Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, DGP, Assam told UNI.

Guwahati: One person was shot dead by suspected militants in Assam’s Cachar district near the state’s border with Manipur on Tuesday, a senior police officer said.

“One person got killed… and nobody is injured. He was a former militant, ” Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, DGP, Assam told UNI.

Lakhipur village near the Assam-Manipur border in Cachar district of Assam. According to sources, a group of suspected armed militants entered the Lakhipur village and carried out the firing in which one villager got killed, and a few others were injured.

It may be mentioned here that a similar incident of firing had been reported in the same district of Assam along the Manipur border on December 14, last year.

One person had been injured in the firing.
