Shillong: One COVID-19 case was detected in the West Khasi Hills district added up to 78 active cases and 23 recoveries from the viral infection surged the number of recovered cases to 13, 719 in Meghalaya on Wednesday, health officials said.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said all the recoveries from COVID-19 recorded on Wednesday were in the East Khasi Hills district.
On the other hand, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the East Khasi Hills, the most affected district that also includes State capital Shillong was recorded at 55 on the latest count.
Meghalaya has so far registered 13, 945 COVID-19 cases, including 148 deaths with 1.06 per cent case fatality rate.
Of the 3,56,663 persons tested for COVID-19, 3,42,718 persons were tested negative for the virus as on date, even as 22 persons were in institutional quarantine and 56 persons were in home isolation across the State, which had seven containment zones where positive cases were detected.
As on Wednesday, 91,658 persons from outside entered the State since the onset of the pandemic, the health department informed.
Dr. War also informed that 14, 101 health care workers have been vaccinated with the first dose of Covishield and 748 health care workers have been administered with the second dose of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine, while 6143 frontline workers have also been vaccinated with the first dose till date in the State.
