Imphal: Manipur Police arrested on Tuesday one active member of the outlawed UNLF organization near LIC gate.
The arrested person has been identified as Saikhom Shanta Meetei, 39, son of S Komal Meetei of Khangabok Cherapur Leikai, Thoubal district.
He has been working in the said organization for the past four months under the command of one self-styled Captain Chingacha alias Angamba presently staying in Myanmar.
The arrested person and the seized articles were handed over to OC- City PS for further investigation, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
Meanwhile, a team of NAB Police Station arrested two persons namely Jangminlun Khongsai, 36, son of Namjang Khongsai of Maojang Village, Kangpokpi District and Thongkhohao Haokip, 42, son of Thanglet Haokip of H. Champhai Village, Kangpokpi District on Tuesday.
The team recovered brown sugar weighing 1.855 kg including the weight of the packets concealed inside a Maruti Swift car bearing registration No. MN01G-8388 in which they were travelling. The team also seized one mobile phone with a SIM and other documents.
On the other hand, a team of Imphal West police arrested one drug smuggler from Lilong Chajing Lamkhai waiting shed namely Md. Mustaf Ali alias Rahul (23yrs) son of Md. Jalaruddin of Thoubal Moijing Mayai Leikai, along with one black polythene bag containing suspected brown sugar weighing 652.60 grams approximately on March 19.
On the same day, a team of Mayang Imphal Police Station arrested one person travelling in Honda Dio bearing registration No. Nil near Bengoon Sati Khongnang Makhong, namely, Phundreimayum Aboi (21 yrs) son of Phundreimayum Nahachou of Bengoon Mayai Leikai area. Eight plastic vials containing suspected heroin number 4, weighing 10 grams along with one mobile handset Vivo were recovered from his possession.
The arrested person and the seized items were handed over to Mayang Imphal Police Station for further action, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
