Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has taken several measures over the years to ensure the development of the state and its people by sustainably leveraging the natural resources, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on Sunday.

Addressing the inaugural session of CHEMCON-2021 organised with the theme, “Sustainable utilisation of resources for chemical and mineral sector”, Patnaik said the theme is an extremely important one for the Odisha government as well.

Odisha, he said, has been marching ahead on the path of industrial development powered by the metals and mineral sector.
The state, the Chief Minister said, has consistently been ranked amongst the top States in terms of live manufacturing investments in India.

Odisha has made concerted efforts to diversify the industry portfolio of the state and the government has identified chemicals and petrochemicals as a key focus sector.

Stressing on infrastructure-led development, Patnaik said: “We are coming up with Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region in Paradip and port-related industrial complex at Dhamra and Gopalpur which will further aid the growth of the chemicals sector in the State.

The Chief Minister hoped that the CHEMCON-2021 will come up with new and innovative ideas towards even more sustainable ways of resource utilization in the chemical and mineral sector.

“This will further aid our efforts to develop Odisha into a global player in the Chemicals sector,” he said.

Patnaik urged the entrepreneurs attending the event to explore Odisha and promised the best-in-class facilitation and enabling environment for growth if they consider the state as their next investment destination.
