Odisha reels under intense heat wave, Met issues yellow warning for several districts

The capital city Bhubaneswar was the hottest place of the state today registering a maximum temperature of 42.1 degree Celsius followed by Boudh (42), Baripada (41.6), Sambalpur, Titilagarh and Sonepur 41 degree Celsius each.

Bhubaneswar: A major part of Odisha today reeled under intense heat wave like conditions with as many as ten places registering a maximum day temperature of above 40 degree Celsius.

The capital city Bhubaneswar was the hottest place of the state today registering a maximum temperature of 42.1 degree Celsius followed by Boudh (42), Baripada (41.6), Sambalpur, Titilagarh and Sonepur 41 degree Celsius each.

The other cities which recorded above 40 degree Celsius temperature are Jharsuguda (40.5), Bolangir and Angul (40.3 each), Talcher (40.1), Bhawanipatna and Nayagarh 40 degree Celsius each.

The local weather office here predicted that the maximum day temperature is very likely to gradually increase by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at many places in odisha during the next couple of days.

Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, ,Gajapati on April 26.

Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal ,Keonjhar and Mayurbhanja will witness thunderstorm on April 27 next and Malkangiri, Koraput, ,Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarha, Boudh , keonjhar, Mayurbhanja and Balasore on April 28 next.

The weather office has issued a yellow warning for these districts.
