Odisha logs 1107 new covid cases,67 deaths in past 24 hours

Khordha and Cuttack districts with 397 and 130 positive cases respectively, accounted for 47.6 per cent of the state’s total daily covid load in the past 24 hours.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded 1107 covid cases and 67 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 9,91,182 with 6697 fatalities.

‘The recovery in the state rose to 9,73,579 while the active cases further declined to 10,853. The Test Positivity Rate ( TPR) stands at 1.7 per cent as out of 64802 tests conducted in the state in the past 24 hours,1107 tested covid positive.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours 646 new infections were reported from the quarantine centres and461 as local contact cases from all the 30 districts.

Khordha and Cuttack districts with 397 and 130 positive cases respectively, accounted for 47.6 per cent of the state’s total daily covid load in the past 24 hours.

These two districts also recorded 43.28 per cent of the total fatalities reported in the state in the past 24 hours.

The daily covid load case in the state has been showing a rising trend over the last four days from 886 on August 8 last to 1107 on August 11.
Of the 67 deaths, the Cuttack district registered 18 deaths followed by Khordha( 11), Sambalpur ( 9) and Jajpur( 5).

The TPR in all the 30 districts in the past 24 hours remained below 5 per cent. As many as 20 of the 30 districts in the state recorded the TPR less than 1 per cent.

The highest TPR of 3.5 per cent was registered in the Khordha district.
As far as the active cases are concerned, Khordha and Cuttack districts with 3842 and 1321 active cases respectively accounted for 47.5 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
