Odisha Assembly mourns demise of former Athagarh MLA Rasamanjari Devi

Moving the obituary reference, the Chief Minister expressed his profound grief over the demise of Rasmanjari Devi and expressed his sympathies to the bereaved family members.

Bhubaneswar:Odisha Assembly on Monday mourned the demise of former Athagarha MLA Rasamanjari Devi.

As soon as the Assembly assembled for the day to take up the business of the house, Chief Minister and leader of the House Naveen Patnaik moved the obituary reference which was supported by Leader of Opposition Jay Narayan Mishra and Santosh Singh Saluja of Congress.

Moving the obituary reference, the Chief Minister expressed his profound grief over the demise of Rasmanjari Devi and expressed his sympathies to the bereaved family members.

Rasmanjari Devi (96), the last queen of Tigiria estate died at his palace at Athagarh on Sunday . She was ailing quite sometimes for old age related problems.

Rasamanjari Devi was elected to Odisha Assembly as Janata dal candidate from Athagarh Assembly Constituency in 1977. The house observed one minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

After the obituary reference was adopted, the house took up the question hour business.
