Odisha: 18-yr-old girl dragged by saltwater crocodile, body yet to be traced

Sources said Sila and her elder sister Sumitra on Friday morning went with a flock of goats to graze the animal near Vekta nullah within the Bhitarkanika National Park.

Kendrapara: In yet another man-crocodile conflict, an eighteen years old girl was dragged by a crocodile while she was going to the bank of the nullah to drive a goat, Forest official sources said on Saturday.

Sila Dalai, daughter of Mathura Dalei of Kuruma village under Talachua Marine police station went on missing since last afternoon after a giant crocodile pounced her and dragged her to the mid of nullah

The forest personnel have launched a search and rescue operation but the body of the girl is yet to be traced out, said forester Kapilendra Pradhan.

Sources said Sila and her elder sister Sumitra on Friday morning went with a flock of goats to graze the animal near Vekta nullah within the Bhitarkanika National Park.

One of the goats went near the bank of nullah and so Sila went to drive the goat,but to her ill luck ,she was pounced on by a giant saltwater crocodile who dragged her into the middle of nullah in front of her elder sister.

Sumitra shouted for help but the locals failed to rescue the girl.
