NPF to field ten candidates in Manipur

The list includes all its four sitting MLAs, who have been renominated. NPF is an ally of the ruling BJP led government in Manipur.

Imphal: The Naga people’s Front (NPF) on Monday announced a list of ten candidates for the Manipur Assembly polls.

The list includes all its four sitting MLAs, who have been renominated. NPF is an ally of the ruling BJP led government in Manipur.

The four sitting MLAs are Manipur forest Minister Awangbow Newmai from Tamei AC (ST), Leishiyo Keishing from Phungyar A/C (ST), Khashim Vashum from Chingai A/C (ST) and Losii Dikho from Mao AC (ST). The candidate for Chandel Ac (ST) was Langhu Paulhring Anal, for Tengnonpal A/C (ST) Dangsasya Korungthang Maring, for Ukhrul AC (ST) Ram Muivah, for Karong AC (ST) Khoho Siile Antony, for Tadubi AC (ST) M. Francis Ngajokpa and for Tamenglong A/C (ST) Khangthuanang Panmei.

A statement issued by NPF President Shurhozelie Liezietsu and General Secretary Achumbemo Kikon said: “The Working Committee is of the considered opinion that at this crucial juncture, there is a necessity for regional political parties to come together in order to effectively address the issues confronting our people.”

Manipur will go to the hustings on February 27 and March 3.
