North East leaders condole demise of Lata Mangeshkar

“She sang her first Assamese song ‘Jonakore Raati’ by closing her eyes after being described the natural beauty of Assam by Bhupen Da,” the Assam Chief Minister contended.

Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday due to multiple organ failure.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also grieved the sad demise of “Lata Didi’, and said she is the most loved, adored and a kind human being who touched a billion hearts with her captivating voice.

Her passing away marks  the end  of an era, but her songs and spirts will live on in the hearts and minds over.

Sarma also stated that the ‘Nightingale of India’ was very close to our heart and she shared a very special bond with the people of Assam.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday paid tribute to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar in a condolence gathering at his official residence here while deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma, information minister Sushanta Chowdhury and leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar separately remembered the melody maestro.

Deb said he was trying to host Lataji in Tripura from the beginning of his office as Chief Minister but the process got halted for two years due to Covid pandemic but her sudden demise has made a full stop forever.

Expressing his condolences, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma said his late father PA Sangma was too a huge fan of the late singer.
