New Delhi: Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh Tapir Gao on Friday categorically said that no Chinese ‘incursion’ took place in Arunachal Pradesh under the current dispensation led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“No Chinese incursion took place in Arunachal Pradesh during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime. It was during the Congress rule,” Gao told UNI here.

The MP from Arunachal East parliamentary constituency further said, “During the 1962 war, China had occupied two to three locations, where they are building their infrastructure now.”

Asked about BJP MP Subramanian Swamy’s tweet on Arunachal Pradesh, Gao said he was ‘misquoted’.

“Today, I met Tapir Gao, BJP LS MP of Arunachal. He told me the AP people wanted that I also focus on Arunachal. He told me that China PLA has already crossed the McMahon Line in three parallel columns halfway down south of the state. Early next year, I will go to AP,” said Swamy in a tweet on Thursday.

The statement of Gao also comes in the wake of recent reports of satellite images, claiming Chinese transgression in the frontier state.

Last month, the Congress had questioned the silence of PM over the alleged Chinese construction of a second village into the Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh and demanded to ‘resolve’ the issue.

In September, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, at an event in Tawang had said, “We are a peace-loving country. We do not want war in any circumstances, but if it comes, we are ready.”

Arunachal Pradesh shares 1,080-km border with China.
