Kakching: The District Administration Kakching in association with the District Social Welfare Office, Kakching organised an awareness programme on Wednesday as a part of the District Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) Action Plan at Kakching Khunou High School and Kakching Khunou Makha High School, Kakching.
Nutan Nongthombam, Asian Youth Leader Colombo Plan attended the programme as the resource person. Mayanglambam Imocha, Headmaster, Kakching Khunou Makha High School and ChingakhamLandhoni Devi, Headmistress, Kakching Khunou High led the pledge at their respective schools to make Kakching District drug free. Today’s programme aimed to educate the students about the ill effects of drug abuse and the importance of living a drug-free life.
It may be mentioned that Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was launched on August 15, 2020 by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and is being implemented in 372 most vulnerable districts based on the findings of the first Comprehensive National Survey and inputs from the Narcotics Control Bureau.
The aim of NMBA is to create awareness about ill effects of substance abuse among the youth, women, children with special focus on higher education institutes, university campuses, schools and reaching out into the community and garnering community involvement and ownership of the Abhiyaan.
