Imphal: Dr. Joram Aniya, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, during her visit to Manipur, visited Mapal Kangjeibung Polo Ground today and interacted with polo players, witnessing the traditional sport of Manipur.
During the visit, Dr. Joram Aniya exchanged brief introductions and interacted with the polo players at the Polo Ground. She also watched polo matches played between the Manipur Police Polo Team and the All-Manipur Polo Association (AMPA). The matches showcased the skills and sporting spirit of the participating players and offered an opportunity for the visiting dignitary to witness Manipur’s rich polo tradition.
Taking part in the experience, Dr. Joram Aniya also rode a horse at the Polo Ground and experienced polo riding. She later distributed cash awards to the runners-up and winners of the men’s and women’s polo matches.
Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, IAS, District Commissioner, Imphal West, Khumanthem Diana Devi, IAS, Director (Tourism), Government of Manipur, along with other officials, were also present during the visit.
