Imphal: As the 3rd Director General Assam Rifles Hockey Cup 2026 entered its penultimate day on Sunday, high-octane sporting action reached its crescendo at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium in Imphal East district, organised by Assam Rifles under the aegis of Manipur Hockey.
In two thrilling Men’s Semi-Final encounters, ARMY XI registered a commanding 11–1 victory over SEYO, while COS held their nerve in a dramatic 5–4 win against SSB to secure their places in the Men’s Final.
The summit clash of the Women’s Leg saw MEIRAA clinch the championship title with a 2–0 victory over THA. MEIRAA maintained composure to keep a clean sheet through disciplined defence and resolute goalkeeping, thwarting THA’s sustained attacking moves. Witnessed by the Senior Official of Assam Rifles, Chairman Manipur Hockey and enthusiastic spectators, the final highlighted the rising standard of women’s hockey in the region. Today’s proceedings culminated with a scintillating cultural programme.
Crowning ten days of grassroots excellence since 18 September 2026, this landmark tournament continues to foster physical fitness and empower regional youth. The grand finale tomorrow, 28 September 2026, will showcase a spectacular closing ceremony commencing at 1:00 PM, followed by the Men’s Final between ARMY XI and COS at 2:10 PM, concluding at around 4:00 PM in the evening.
