NIA chargesheets 3 Bodo militants for killing Addl SP in Assam

This case, related to an ambush in which Gulzar Hussain, the then Addl, Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur, a civilian Anlark Basumatary were killed, and several other police personnel injured, was initially registered at Dhekiajuli Police Station in Sonitpur district in Assam on January 28, 2014.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a chargesheet against three Bodo terrorists before the Guwahati NIA Special Court in connection with the killing of the then Additional Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur.

The accused– Bishnu Narzary aka Berama, Nitul Daimary alias Naihab and Runiluish Diamary aka Monthai, all active members of a banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S)– were chargesheeted under section 16,18,20 of Unlawful Activities (P) Act read with section 34,120B,302,307 and 326 of Indian Penal Code and section 27 of Arms Act, the NIA said in a statement.

This case, related to an ambush in which Gulzar Hussain, the then Addl, Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur, a civilian Anlark Basumatary were killed, and several other police personnel injured, was initially registered at Dhekiajuli Police Station in Sonitpur district in Assam on January 28, 2014.

NIA took over the case on August 7,2019 and initiated investigation which revealed that the members of NDFB-S had laid the ambush.

Two of the chargesheeted accused in this case, namely, Bishnu Narzary and Nitul Daimary had also been convicted in another case RC-04/2014/NIA-GUW wherein Bishnu Narzary has been given death sentence and Nitul Daimary has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Two other NDFB cadres Kham kham Daimary aka Lotham and Junu Basumatary aka B Sijou who were involved in the crime have been already killed in separate encounters with security forces, the probe agency said, adding that further investigation in the case is on.
