Imphal: Manipur Education Minister S. Rajen Singh has said that Health and Education sector need to be prioritised in order to establish a healthy nation.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion of Hindi Diwas Samaroh jointly organised by the SCERT, Hindi Teachers Training Institute and Hindi Teachers Training College in Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) campus, Imphal, Rajen said if there is a failure in the health and education sector the future generation will have no destiny. Good health and education are correlated, he added.
He maintained that his education department records one of the highest employees in the state. There are still vacancies of teachers and other staff to be filled up in the department. The government is also giving priority to developing the education sector in the state. ‘School Fagathansi Mission’ has been launched as a landmark step in this regard.
Minister Rajen explained that during the past recent years number of school dropped outs increased due to the inability to afford school fees in private schools. It happened due to the distrust of the public towards government schools. But registration of students to the government schools has increased tremendously during the recent years, he claimed.
He said that there is no harm in learning different languages. Apart from the steps to promote the Hindi language, the government is trying to promote the Manipuri language and other dialects of the state. The Ministry of Education has also assured to release Rs. 18 crore to promote Manipuri and Meitei Mayek in the state, the Minister maintained.
During his speech, Rajen also assured to renovate the old building of the Hindi Teachers Training College and also to strengthen the teaching and non-teaching staffs of the college through new recruitments.
