Agartala/Guwahati: The Northeast India Federation of Journalists (NIFJ), an affiliate of the Indian Journalists Union and International Federation of Journalists, appealed to the journalists and medica organization to exercise restrain while reporting and covering the Assam-Mizoram border incident leading to unfortunate death of six policemen of Assam.
While expressing grave concern over the incident, the NIFJ, in a statement issued on Thursday, urged the entire journalist community to refrain from further vitiating the volatile atmosphere through their reports.
The statement signed by NIFJ President Sajjad Ali and General Secretary Bedabrata Lahkar further appealed to the scribes to confine to factual reporting and not resort to media trials which can disturb peace and damage the age-old brotherly relations among the people of this wonderful region.
