Naypyitaw: Myanmar’s military chief has vowed to “annihilate” the opposition and said there is no room for negotiations with such groups.

Addressing annual military parade marking the 77th annual Armed Forces Day on Sunday, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing called the anti-junta supporters as terrorist groups.

He said, “I would like to highlight that there are no governments or armies worldwide that negotiate with any terrorist groups.”

Kyodo News quoted him as saying that the military, also known as Tatmadaw, will continue annihilating such groups until the country regains peace and stability.

The military had ousted the democratic government February 1 last year alleging fraud in the November 2020 elections wherein Aung San Suu Kyi’s party made a landsliding victory.
