Itanagar: Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt on Wednesday visited Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh and received the ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ (Victory Flame) at the Tawang War Memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs.
He then interacted with the jawans of the Indian Army near the War Memorial.
Talking to media, the MoS for Defence said, “I have interacted with our jawans in forwarding locations today, their spirit is very high.”
Appreciating the civil-military relationship in Tawang, Bhatt called it an ‘example’ in the entire country. “Wherever there is Indian Army, they always keep good relation with civil population and always extend their helping hands whenever needed.
The local population and Army combine makes a beautiful bouquet of flower, they should cooperate with each other in developmental activities,” the MoS exhorted.
The junior defence minister also interacted with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and encouraged them to join the Indian Army to serve the nation.
“You should be ready to serve your nation, the future of this country lies on your shoulder,” he told them.
Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi briefed the MoS (Defence) and the GOC, Eastern Command on the joint land re-assessment and further follow up of the meeting held on Tuesday in the Tawang DC office chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu regarding the same.
Earlier, the Union Minister along with senior officers from the Indian Army paid tribute to the martyrs at Jaswant Garh and Bumla.
The minister and senior officers have presented a cultural programme near Tawang War Memorial after the wreath-laying ceremony. They also visited Tawang Monastery and offered their prayers.
