Assam Rifles seizes smuggled goods in Tengnoupal district

Imphal: Tengnoupal Battalion foiled cross border smuggling of Chinese origin goods in Tengnoupal district on September 21.

During an area domination operation, troops of Assam Rifles observed the movement of three suspicious persons carrying bags near Kwatha village. On seeing the troops approaching, the smugglers escaped into the jungle leaving behind their bags.

On searching the bags, Chinese origin cigarettes, mosquito coils, cosmetics and textile items worth Rs 9.30 lakhs were recovered.
The recovered items were handed over to Custom Preventive Force (CPF) Moreh for further investigation.
