Kozhikode: Mizoram outplayed Rajasthan by 4-0 to notch up their fourth successive win while Andhra Pradesh and Bihar match ended in draw (1-1) in the preliminary stage (Group-2) of the 76th Santosh Trophy football championship played at the EMS Corporation stadium here on Wednesday.
After a goal barren first half, Mizoram scored four goals in the second half to mark their fourth consecutive win and this also led them to come on the top of the table with 12 points.
Mizoram’s Lalrinzuala opened the scoring in the 60th minute and Lalbiakdika scored a brace in the 77 and 94th minute (injurytime) and Lalvenhima scored a third goal in the 86th minute helped them to beat Rajasthan.
The match between Andhra Pradesh and Bihar ended in a draw (1-1). Both the teams shared one point each which led to opening their account in the table.
Andhra’s Madiwal N scored in the 26th minute of the first half. Bihar’s Sidhiki A found the equalizer in the 53rd minute in a counter attack.
Mizoram were leading with 12 points (4 matches), followed by defending champions Kerala 9 (3 matches), while Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan stood in third and fourth position with four points, Bihar and Andhra were in fifth and sixth position respectively in Group-2.
Hosts Kerala will meet Jammu & Kashmir tomorrow.
