Imphal: Social Welfare Minister, Henry Okram Saturday announced that the pension benefits for six months under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) have been transferred to the respective bank accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) using PFMS.
Speaking to the media persons at his residence at Babupara, Imphal, Henry Okram said that a sum of Rs 9.26 crore was released by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India as pension benefits for 6 (six) months, April 2020 to September, 2020 for beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS),and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).
Altogether 61,426 beneficiaries will be receiving the pension amount for the duration from April, 2020 to September, 2020 in their respective bank accounts. Around 55,160 beneficiaries are for Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, 5,355 beneficiaries are for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme and 911 beneficiaries are for Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme.
Henry Okram mentioned that the technical issues regarding transfer of pensionary benefits to bank accounts maintained at erstwhile UBI (now Punjab National Bank) has been sorted out by PFMS and the concerned Bank (P&B). The Department has started releasing the benefits under NSAP including those beneficiaries whose accounts are maintained at erstwhile UBI (now merged to PNB), he added.
