Meghalaya reports two Covid-19 deaths, 23 new cases

While one case of death due to Covid-19 was recorded in the East Khasi Hills, another case of fatality was recorded in the South Garo Hills district.

Shillong: Meghalaya on Saturday reported two Covid-19 related death increasing the number of fatalities due to the viral disease to 1,615, health officials said.

On the other hand, 23 new cases of infection added up to 363 active cases, while 37 more cases of recovery increased the number of recovered cases to 94,327 on Saturday in Meghalaya, which has so far registered 96,305 confirmed cases, health officials said.

While one case of death due to Covid-19 was recorded in the East Khasi Hills, another case of fatality was recorded in the South Garo Hills district.

The most pandemic-hit West Garo Hills, including Tura, reported nine new Covid-19 cases and six cases of recovery even as the number of active cases in the district was recorded at 241, the highest in the state.

The number of active Covid-19 cases decreased to 41 in the East Khasi Hills, which includes the state capital Shillong with the district reporting six new cases of infection and 10 more cases of recovery today, as per the latest health statistics.

New cases of viral infection were also reported from the Ri-Bhoi district, South Garo Hills district, West Garo Hills district, South West Garo Hills district, and West Jaintia Hills district.

Twenty-nine Covid-19 infected patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state.
