Meghalaya reports 16 new COVID-19 cases

No fresh cases were reported from the nine districts on Monday.

Shillong: Meghalaya reported 16 new Covid-19 cases, taking the number of confirmed cases to 95,925 and the fatality count to 1,611 on Monday, health officials said.

The number of people currently infected with the virus in the State is 686, while 36 more people have also recovered from the viral infection, mounting the number of recoveries to 93, 628 on Monday,
they said.

The most pandemic-hit West Garo Hills, including Tura, registered five new Covid-19 cases and 11 cases of recovery even as the number of active cases in the district was recorded at 432, the
highest in the state, as per official statistics.

The number of active Covid-19 cases marginally increased to 120 in the East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong with the district reporting six new cases of infection and sox more cases of recovery Monday, official statistics read.

Three new cases of the viral infection were also reported from South West Garo Hills district and two cases from the Ri-Bhoi district.

No fresh cases were reported from the nine districts on Monday.

Fifty-two Covid-19 infected patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state, the officials said.
