Meghalaya records more recoveries than new COVID cases

Meghalaya has so far registered 71,388 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Shillong: Meghalaya reported 918 cases of recovery from the viral infection, surging the number of recovered cases to 66,237 and 343 new COVID-19 positive cases adding up to 3931 active cases and seven more deaths, including that of six unvaccinated persons on Saturday.

The East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong, is the most Covid-19 affected district with 1578 active cases, followed by West Khasi Hills district with 608 active cases, West Garo Hills district with 450 active cases, Ri-Bhoi district with 429 active cases and South West Khasi Hills district with 207 active cases, while the other districts had less than 100 active cases each.

Till this evening, 9,13,992 persons have been tested for COVID-19 in the State, with 8,42,604 of them having tested negative for the virus.
While 32,000 health care workers have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 24,465 have received the second dose, 96,915 front-line workers got the first jab and 55,668 took the second shot, 8,36,692 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 1,72,978 citizens have been fully vaccinated with the second dose across the state as on date, as per information received from the directorate of health services.
