Shillong: Meghalaya police have arrested one drug trafficker and seized 0.25 gram of heroin and Rs. 20000 in cash from his possession, a police official said on Saturday.
Based on source information, police detained a vehicle suspecting it was carrying contraband substances.
During the search of the vehicle, police recovered 0.25 grams of heroin and around Rs. 20000 in cash from Grandly Biam, who is accused to be a drug trafficker, Giri Prasad, the district police chief of Ri-Bhoi, said.
Based on further suspicion a search was conducted at the residence of the accused person and around 300 Litres of illegal liquor was also seized along with Rs 2.4 lakhs in cash.
Prasad said that during the operation in total 0.25 grams of heroin, three cars, and Rs 2.6 lakhs in cash were seized.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and an investigation is on.
