Meghalaya government observes Gandhi Jayanti

Senior officers and staff of the Meghalaya Secretariat joined the observance and paid their respects to the Father of the Nation.

Shillong: The Government of Meghalaya today observed Gandhi Jayanti by paying floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Main Secretariat, Rilang Building.

Principal Secretary of Arts and Culture and Home (Police) Department, F.R. Kharkongor; Commissioner and Secretary, Vijay Kumar Mantri; Director of the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI), Swapnil Tembe; along with senior officers and staff of the Meghalaya Secretariat, were present on the occasion and paid their respects to the Father of the Nation.

The observance marked the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his enduring ideals of truth, peace and non-violence, which continue to inspire generations.

The occasion also provided an opportunity for officers and staff to reaffirm their commitment to the values and principles espoused by Mahatma Gandhi and their relevance to public service.
