Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister lays foundation stone for poultry farm

Shillong: Deputy Chief Minister, P Tynsong, Tuesday laid the foundation stone for a poultry farm under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) at a function held at Mawryngkneng, East Khasi Hills. The programme was also attended by Local MDC and Chairman KHADC, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, and officials of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department.

Speaking during the programme, P Tynsong stressed the need of having sustainable development and self-sufficiency. He added that the government is creating various avenues to help the farmers and to uplift the economy of the state.

He also stated that the Poultry Mission will soon be implemented in the state and urged the public to take full advantage of the proposed mission.

He further added that the poultry farm at Mawryngkneng will be converted into a farming hub which will cater to the whole of East Khasi Hills District.

Later in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for upgradation of existing Stockman Centre to Veterinary Dispensary under NABARD loan at Sohryngkham, East Khasi Hills.Addressing the gathering, P Tynsong said that the dispensary is not only about getting facilities for medication and surgery, it is also a facility for gathering information which in turn can help people thrive towards sustainable livelihood and income generation.

He also urged the people to take advantage of the facilities provided for them at the veterinary dispensary.
